A blog from World War 2 | Un Blog dalla Seconda Guerra Mondiale

The siren went off at midnight, we got up and went to the “shelter”, so to speak… even a small bomb would destroy it completely. We keep praying that God will keep us safe from all danger and allow us to return to our families who are far away and desolate! I think about my darling wife and our dear kids. I always made sure they had what they needed, I wonder if they have the necessities now. I think about little Marina, when I left she was 5 months old, now she is 15 months old and must be running in the streets with her brother, I imagine she already says “papa”, her mother must have taught her! But she doesn’t know me! I hope to go home soon and put an end to this suffering.
